Salvation Army Angel Tree Program Update!

St. Paul’s has helped make Christmases brighter for families in our county for over two decades with the the Angel Tree Program!  The Salvation Army has revised the program for this year.  There will be two kinds of tags on our tree.  The usual toy tags will be available along with tags to purchase home heating assistance.  Each tag will describe the method of donation (either toys, or monetary donations that the Salvation Army will use to purchase heating oil), and the instructions on how to make the donation.  Please talk to Pastor Matt if you have questions!

Harvest Home Sunday

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving during worship on Sunday, November 19th.  You are invited to bring non-perishable food items for our annual Thank Offering.  Our donations will help to support the work of the Salvation Army and Somerset Area food pantry.

A Note of Thanks from Rev. David Ackerman, Penn West Conference Minister

Dear Pastor Matt and Friends at St. Paul’s UCC,

I’m writing because we recently received an extraordinary gift from you for disaster relief through the United Church of Christ.  We are forwarding $4,000 earmarked for Hurricane Harvey, $4,000 for Hurricane Irma and $4,000 for UCC Disaster Ministries.  All told, this is $12,000.00 in relief efforts to help those who have been victimized by these horrible disasters.  This is truly an amazing gift for which we are most grateful!

As you know, UCC Disaster Ministries are strategically poised to help provide relief in times of disaster.  Unlike other relief organizations, 100% of the monies directed toward these effects go to support them. This is because Basic Support of Our Church’s Wider Mission provides for the infrastructure to be in place in order for these ministries to occur.  St. Paul’s is our Conference’s largest giver to Basic Support of Our Church’s Wider Mission and we want you to know how thankful we are for your astonishing generosity which helps so many people in ways above and beyond what you might imagine.

So please hear my deep and sincere gratitude to you for your deeply generous gift.  I thank God for St. Paul’s Church and for the opportunity we have to walk daily in covenant with you.  May God’s blessings be with you, now and always!

Sincerely,

David J. Ackerman
